Discipline & behavior Policy
1. Camp’s Approach to Discipline
We use a positive reinforcement approach that encourages good behavior and respectful interactions. Our goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where children feel valued and understood in every circumstance possible.

2. Steps for Addressing Misbehavior
If a child exhibits inappropriate behavior, the following steps will be taken:
-
Verbal Warning: A reminder about expected behavior.
-
Time Away / Reflection Time: A brief period where the child is removed from the group to reflect.
-
Parent Communication: If the behavior persists, a staff member will inform the parent / guardian.
-
Behavior Plan: For ongoing issues, a plan will be developed in partnership with the parent / guardian.
3. Prohibited Behaviors
The following behaviors may result in immediate action:
-
Physical aggression (hitting, biting, etc.)
-
Bullying, harassment, or inappropriate language
-
Blatant, continued disrespect toward staff or other campers
-
Destruction of property
-
Endangering the safety of others
4. Consequences for Serious Infractions
For serious infractions or repeated behavior issues, consequences may include:
-
Temporary Suspension: A break from camp to allow for behavior reflection.
-
Dismissal from Camp: In extreme cases, the child may be removed from the program
without refund.

5. Parent Notification
Parents will be notified if there is a behavioral concern that requires attention.

6. Bullying Policy
We have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying. Peer conflicts are handled with mediation and guidance to help children learn conflict resolution and empathy. Serious or ongoing issues will be addressed directly with the parent / guardian.

7. Staff Training
All staff and volunteers are trained in positive discipline techniques and strategies to
de-escalate situations while promoting respect and understanding.

8. Dismissal for Behavioral Issues
In cases of repeated disruptive behavior, aggression, or refusal to follow camp rules, a child may be dismissed from camp without a refund to ensure the safety and well-being of all campers.
